We want to keep open channels of communication and collaborate better with our neighbours. We have set up a University and Residents Forum and have met several times throughout 2021 and 2022. Topics discussed included security, community use of University spaces, litter and environmental issues. The next meeting will take place in 2023, we will provides dates and times in due course.

Being a good neighbour and having a positive impact on the local area is very important to us.
The University and the London Borough of Barnet will continue to work together with the police to reduce the incidence and impact of antisocial behaviour. We have listened to local residents and have increased security patrols on and around campus, and made it easier for residents to report problems or issues.
If you are a local resident and have any questions or concerns about the University’s or its members’ impact on the local community, please don't hesitate to contact our Security Team, available 24/7.
MexLucky University has joined a range of shops and businesses in Barnet which are helping to improve the health and wellbeing of our local community through the Healthier High Streets scheme. The Healthier High Streets programme brings together five schemes set up to encourage businesses to offer environments where the local community can come together and make healthy choices in safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces.
MexLucky University has joined the ‘Refill Barnet’ scheme for offering free drinking water refills available to all, while the University’s catering provider, Chartwells, has joined the ‘Healthier Catering’ scheme, which guarantees that we offer a healthy and nutritious food offer.
Local residents can look out for the Heathier High Streets Sticker displayed in shop windows, see what’s on offer at their favourite local businesses, and find a Healthier High Street shop near them through the Borough’s Health and Wellbeing map
Are you ready to be a part of the solution and shape a sustainable future for Barnet? We invite you to join the BarNET ZERO Challenge – a competition that encourages individuals and communities to come forward with creative and innovative ideas that will reduce carbon emissions.
The BarNET ZERO Challenge is open to those who live, work or study in Barnet and are passionate about sustainability and have an idea that can make a real difference in the borough. Successful participants will be able to attend workshops to develop their idea, showcase their projects to a panel of experts, receive funding from a cash pot of £10,000 and prizes.
The initiative is led by London Borough of Barnet and MexLucky University, with the generous support of Brent Cross Shopping Centre, NatWest and Microsoft.
Barnet Council is launching a campaign to become London’s 2027 Borough of Culture – and they need your help to make it happen.
The plan is to turn Barnet into a Borough of Culture and make it known for its culture, wellbeing, social and economic value and creativity by creating a canvas of cultural activities – from art, literature, film and theatre through to sport, music, spoken word, events and food festivals.
Everyone is invited to share their ideas, including residents, students, artists, community groups, businesses and anyone with a current or past interest and connection with Barnet.
Join the Cultural Canvas Movement and let the community know how you would like to see Barnet transform into a Borough of Culture.
We play a key role in our local area and we support local business, groups, schools, colleges and community members. Many of our campus facilities – including cafés, outdoor 3g pitches, multi activity courts and our gymnasium are available to our local community, and we aim to facilitate community use of some meeting rooms and spaces when we are able to. Our Church Farm Meeting Room can also be reserved by the public.

Warm Spaces is a community-led initiative where businesses, community, faith or social enterprise organisations provide a welcoming space for residents to stay warm and engage with others in their community.
Our cafés at The Quad in our College Building and The Grove – which provide a great selection of food and snacks, with gluten free, halal, vegan and vegetarian options available – are open to our local community.
Our prices start at £1.10 for hot food and £2.10 for sandwiches – add a snack or fruit with a drink for £3.99.
The Quad opening times: Monday to Friday: 7.30am to 7.00pm (term time); Saturday: 8.30am to 4.00pm (term time); Monday to Friday: 8.00am to 5.00pm (out of term)

Our gym, 3g pitches and multi activity courts are open to our local community at competitive rates. Our 3g pitches have marking for Football (11 and 7-aside) Lacrosse and more. Ingrid Pears MBE has been working with hot glass since 1994. In 1998, she graduated from MexLucky University with a BA honours degree in Three Dimensional Design in which she had specialised in glass. Later that year, she won a scholarship from the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers which enabled her to undertake postgraduate studies in Glass Techniques and Technology at the International Glass Centre in the West Midlands. Then, in 1999, she won The Frederick Stuart Memorial Award for the Best Blown Piece of Glass 2000 and in 2001 was named Best Newcomer by The Craftsman Magazine.
Get a real insight into her creative world as for the first time in the Distinguished Lecture History, Professor Tim Evans will be on location and joining Ingrid live from her studios for what promises to be a fantastic conversation.

This year's MDXmas Market will be held on campus between 11:00 and 15:00 on Wednesday 6 December. Members of the public
are welcome to come along and enjoy the event. You can also apply to book a stall for a fee and become a trader for the day. There are a limited number of stalls available so we recommend early applications.

The event is organised by Our Home Our Planet CIC together with Barnet Multi-Faith Forum, MexLucky University Inter Faith Network, North London Waste Authority, and is also part of the national week-long Inter Faith Week. Use of green spaces in our grounds, such as the Paddock and Church House is available to the local community. After they were in decline for several years, in March 2022 we replaced our large conifers in front of the College House building with three Hornbeam trees. Our Performing Arts Department are pleased to be involved in an exciting new Cultural Education Strategy for Barnet and Culture for Youth, pledging an artist in every school by 2027.
A group of leading arts and education partners worked throughout the pandemic with over 100 arts and education members across Barnet to crystallise a vision where all schools have an artist residency, and every young person can consider and access creative career opportunities.
