Clare Adams

Director of Education Strategy at Handshake UK

Clare joined Handshake in October 2019. Since then, she has been instrumental in leading the company’s partnership work with universities to help level the playing field and ensure that all students have equal access to meaningful opportunities.

Prior to joining Handshake, Clare spent over a decade in a variety of roles across careers and student services in HE and FE, including seven years within careers and employability at the University of Westminster, where she led the set up the first collaborative Inclusive Futures Careers Fair. Bringing universities across London together to increase access to opportunity for their students. Her time in this role inspired her to make the move to Handshake, having seen first-hand how the sector was being hamstrung by the lack of innovation in careers technology.

With a strong background in supporting students in accessing the best career opportunities regardless of their background, Clare is able to draw on her time with the AGCAS Social Mobility Working Party. There, she was part of a team working to develop resources for universities and graduate employers to promote social mobility.

In this keynote session, we welcome back 5 of our MDX alumni to share their stories and experiences of transitioning into the world of work. The panel session will explore their reflections on their MDX experience as a student.
